Frog Tamping Rammer

A Frog Tamping Rammer, simply called a tamping rammer or just a rammer, is a type of construction equipment used primarily for compacting soil, sand, gravel, and other materials in preparation for construction or paving projects. The name “frog” comes from its hopping or jumping motion that resembles the leap of a frog.

This tool is characterized by a narrow, upright design, with a metal foot or shoe at the base that repeatedly strikes the ground with considerable force. The rammer is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a piston within a cylinder. As the piston moves, it creates a rapid, repetitive impact that is transmitted through the foot to the ground. This action compacts the material beneath it, increasing its density and stability.

Frog Tamping Rammers are particularly useful in confined areas where larger, rolling compactors cannot reach or maneuver effectively. Frog Tamping Rammer Uses
