Nails

Nails are fasteners with a sharp point and a flat head, designed to be driven into materials—primarily wood—to join them together or provide a mounting point. They are categorized by their type (common, finishing, roofing, masonry), length, shank (smooth or ringed), head style, and coating (galvanized, vinyl). The correct nail must be chosen based on the materials being joined, the holding power required, and exposure to weather to prevent rust and withdrawal failure. Using a nail that is too short or the wrong type can result in a weak joint.
