Safety Precautions

1. Protective Gear:

   • Eye Protection: Always wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from flying debris or chips.

   • Gloves: Wear appropriate gloves to protect your hands from sharp edges, vibrations, and impacts.

2. Correct Tool Selection:

   • Choose the right type and size of cold chisel for the task at hand. Using the wrong tool can be inefficient and may lead to accidents.

3. Secure Workpiece:

   • Ensure that the workpiece is securely clamped or held in place to prevent it from moving during chiseling. This stability is crucial for accuracy and safety.

4. Stable Work Surface:

   • Use a stable workbench or work surface to provide a solid foundation for your work. This helps prevent slips or unexpected movements.

5. Proper Body Position:

   • Stand in a balanced and stable position with your feet shoulder-width apart. Keep your body to the side rather than directly in line with the chisel to avoid injury in case of a slip or  misstrike.

6. Hammer Safety:

   • Use a hammer or mallet that is suitable for the task. Ensure the hammer's head is securely attached to the handle.

   • Strike the chisel squarely and with controlled force. Avoid overstriking, as it can damage the chisel or cause it to slip.

7. Direction of Force:

   • Direct the force away from your body and others. Ensure that no one is standing in the potential path of the chisel or hammer swing.

8. Inspect Tools:

   • Regularly inspect the cold chisel and hammer for any signs of wear, damage, or defects. Replace or repair tools as needed.

9. Proper Technique:

   • Learn and use the proper chiseling technique. Do not use excessive force, and let the tool do the work.

10. Avoid Overreaching:

    • Avoid overreaching or stretching while using the chisel. Maintain a comfortable working distance to maintain control.

11. Work in a Well-Lit Area:

    • Ensure you have adequate lighting to see your work clearly and avoid accidental slips or misjudgments.

12. Keep Workspace Clean:

    • Remove clutter and unnecessary items from your work area to reduce the risk of tripping or knocking tools off surfaces.
