Safety Precautions

1. Wear Protective Gear

   • Gloves and long-sleeved clothing to protect hands and skin from abrasions and sharp edges.

   • Steel-toed boots for protection against dropped tools and heavy debris.

2. Inspect the Wheel and Tool

   • Check the diamond wheel for cracks, worn segments, or imbalance before use.

   • Make sure the grinding wheel is securely mounted and compatible with the grinder’s RPM.

3. Tool Setup and Mounting

   • Use the correct flange and lock nut when attaching the wheel to the grinder.

   • Ensure the wheel is properly centered to prevent wobble and uneven wear.

4. Maintain Safe Operation

   • Hold the grinder with both hands and maintain a firm grip.

   • Keep the grinding surface at an appropriate angle (typically 15°–30°) to prevent gouging.

   • Avoid applying excessive pressure—let the wheel’s abrasive segments do the cutting.

5. Control Dust and Debris

   • Use dust extraction systems or wet grinding methods where possible.

   • Avoid dry grinding in enclosed spaces without proper ventilation.

6. Work Area Safety

   • Clear the area of combustible materials and unnecessary personnel.

   • Ensure adequate lighting and safe footing, especially on job sites.

7. Use Guards and Shields

   • Keep the grinder’s safety guard in place and aligned with the direction of sparks.

8. Cool Down and Shutdown

   • Allow the grinder and wheel to come to a complete stop before setting it down.

   • Unplug the grinder before performing adjustments, changing wheels, or maintenance.

9. Training and Compliance

   • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines for both the grinder and wheel.

   • Ensure only trained personnel operate grinding tools in commercial or industrial environments.
