Safety Precautions

1. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

   • Eye Protection: Always wear safety goggles or a face shield to protect your eyes from dust, debris, and potential flying particles.

   • Respiratory Protection: If sanding generates dust, especially with materials like wood or metal, wear a dust mask or a respirator to prevent inhalation of harmful particles.

2. Use Hearing Protection:

   • If the power tool produces loud noise, use ear protection such as earmuffs or earplugs to prevent hearing damage.

3. Dust Control:

   • Work in a well-ventilated area or use dust extraction systems to minimize airborne dust.

   • Consider wearing a dust mask or respirator if there's a significant amount of dust generated during sanding.

4. Clothing and Jewelry:

   • Wear appropriate clothing, avoiding loose-fitting items that could get caught in the rotating parts of the tool.

   • Remove jewelry and tie back long hair to prevent entanglement.

5. Secure Workpiece:

   • Ensure that the workpiece is securely held in place using clamps or other appropriate fixtures. This helps prevent the material from being thrown or slipping during sanding.

6. Inspect Tools:

   • Before use, inspect the sanding discs and the power tool for any damage or defects. Replace worn-out or damaged discs promptly.

   • Make sure the power tool is in good working condition, with safety guards and shields intact.

7. Follow Operating Instructions:

   • Adhere to the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines for the specific sanding disc set and power tool you are using.

   • Do not exceed the recommended speed settings for the sanding discs.

8. Avoid Excessive Pressure:

   • Let the sanding disc do the work. Applying excessive pressure can lead to overheating, reduced efficiency, and increased wear on the tool.

9. Switch Off Before Changing Discs:

   • Always turn off the power tool and unplug it before changing or adjusting sanding discs. This prevents accidental starts.

10. Maintain Control:

    • Maintain a firm grip on the power tool with both hands, and be in a stable position while sanding. Avoid overreaching.

11. First Aid and Emergency Preparedness:

    • Have a first aid kit nearby and be familiar with its contents.

    • Know the location of emergency shut-offs and exits in case of any unexpected situations.
