Bosch SDS-max Drill Bit

PRIMARY USES

1. Heavy-Duty Drilling in Reinforced Concrete and Masonry
Primary Use: A range of SDS-max hammer drill bits (available in Standard “7” and advanced “Max-4” variants) used for fast, efficient drilling in concrete, reinforced concrete, and masonry. Essential for construction professionals, civil engineers, and heavy-duty installation technicians requiring reliable drilling for anchor bolts, rebar penetrations, and large-diameter service installations.
How it helps: For construction and heavy-duty professionals, the SDS-max drill bits deliver fast and efficient drilling in reinforced concrete. The 4-cutter design on the Max-4 variant prevents jamming and breakage when drilling rebar, providing optimal results. The SDS max-7 variant is ideal for use at the highest drilling speeds, featuring solid carbide S-cutters and inclined side cutters for very fast drilling. The vibration-optimised flute design offers excellent power transmission and increased speed, while the wear mark ensures accurate drill hole diameter.
2. Compatibility with SDS-max Rotary Hammers
Primary Use: Compatible with all rotary hammers featuring SDS-max tool holders.
How it helps: The SDS-max shank ensures secure and quick bit changes without tools. The bit is intended for use on masonry, concrete, and reinforced concrete, making it suitable for a wide range of heavy-duty installation and construction applications.

SECONDARY USES

1. Reinforced Concrete Drilling: Drills through concrete containing rebar for anchor bolt and structural fixing applications.
2. Large Diameter Drilling: Suitable for large diameter holes for pipe and cable penetrations in structural elements.
3. Masonry Drilling: Drills through brick, block, and stone for heavy-duty fixing applications.
4. Anchor Installation: Creates precise holes for chemical and mechanical anchors in concrete.

3. PHYSICAL & OPERATIONAL PROPERTIES

  • Preparation: Insert the SDS-max shank into the SDS-max tool holder of the rotary hammer until it locks. Ensure the bit is securely seated.
  • Usage Instructions: Position the bit at the drilling point. Use hammer drilling mode for concrete and masonry. Allow the bit to do the work—apply moderate pressure and let the hammer action and flute design remove dust efficiently.
  • Storage Conditions: Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
  • Cleaning: Clean the bit after use with a soft cloth. Remove debris from flutes.

4. SAFETY & COMPLIANCE ATTRIBUTES

  • Safety Classification: Drill bit accessory; no electrical or laser hazards. Normal safety precautions apply.
  • Safety Features: 4-cutter design prevents jamming and reduces kickback risk; centring tip guides drilling
  • Certification: PGM-certified quality
SAFETY HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Operational Safety: Always wear safety goggles when drilling. Secure the workpiece firmly. Ensure the bit is correctly inserted into the SDS-max tool holder. Do not operate the rotary hammer without the auxiliary handle fitted.
Dust Hazard: Drilling in concrete and masonry generates silica dust. Use appropriate respiratory protection (at least P2 or N95 mask) and dust extraction where possible.
Tool Safety: Ensure the bit is securely locked in the SDS-max tool holder before use. Check the bit for damage before each use. Do not use damaged or worn bits.
Maintenance: Clean the bit after use. Remove debris from flutes. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
Training requirement: No specialised training required. Basic instruction on correct usage and safety procedures is recommended.

2. FIRST AID MEASURES

Eye Injury (debris): Do not rub. Rinse immediately with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes, holding eyelids open. Seek medical attention.
Cut Injury: Apply direct pressure to stop bleeding. Clean wound with clean water. Cover with sterile dressing. Seek medical attention if bleeding is profuse or the wound is deep.
Skin Contact (dust): Wash skin with soap and water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.
Inhalation of Dust: Move a person to fresh air. If symptoms persist (coughing, difficulty breathing), seek medical attention.

3. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flammability: The bit itself is not flammable. Packaging may burn if exposed to fire.
Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, foam, dry chemical powder, or carbon dioxide (CO₂) for fires involving packaging.
Fire Response: In event of fire, evacuate the area and call emergency services. Use appropriate extinguishers.
