Diemme filter rubber diaphragms are flexible membrane components for membrane filter plates, enabling enhanced cake dewatering through secondary squeezing. Available in various elastomer compounds for chemical and temperature resistance. Compatible with Diemme GHT and GHT 4×4 series filter presses, including models 1200, 1500, 2000, and 2500. These diaphragms can be permanently welded to the plate body or designed as replaceable components, simplifying maintenance and extending plate life .

Diemme Filter Rubber Diaphragm

PRIMARY USES

1. Enhancing Filter Cake Dewatering in Membrane Filter Presses
Primary Use: A flexible, impermeable rubber component used in Diemme membrane filter plates to perform a secondary “squeezing” step for enhanced dewatering. Essential for mining, mineral processing, chemical, and industrial wastewater applications where achieving maximum cake dryness is critical.
How it helps: For process engineers and plant operators, the rubber diaphragm enables the filter press to achieve significantly lower cake moisture levels than standard recessed chamber plates alone. When the application requires washing stages with solvents or drying stages with compressed air, special plates with variable-volume chambers that use these diaphragms are necessary. The diaphragm transforms the force of pressing air or water into mechanical pressing, compressing the filter cake to reduce residual moisture to below 10%. The diaphragm is designed to withstand thousands of inflation/deflation cycles without failure.

SECONDARY USES

1. Chemical and Corrosive Environments: Diaphragms are available in a wide range of elastomers to suit different slurry conditions and chemical compositions. Special formulations are available for demanding applications requiring resistance to aggressive chemicals and high temperatures .
2. High-Pressure Applications: Diemme GHT and GHT 4×4 series filter presses operate at working pressures up to 30 bar, with diaphragms engineered to withstand these extreme conditions .
3. Replacement and Maintenance: Rubber membranes are available as replacement parts for Diemme filter presses in various sizes, including 1888x1929mm for GHT 2000 models . The Diemme spare parts platform allows customers to quickly identify and order the correct diaphragm for their specific equipment .

SAFETY HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate PPE, including safety goggles, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed boots when handling or installing diaphragms.
Lockout/Tagout: Always isolate and lock out the filter press from its hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical power sources before beginning any maintenance or installation work.
Chemical Safety: Diaphragm material must be matched to the specific chemical composition of the process slurry to prevent chemical degradation, leakage, or catastrophic failure .
Training requirement: Maintenance personnel must be properly trained on the safe and correct procedures for handling and installing diaphragms on the specific Diemme filter press model.

2. FIRST AID MEASURES

Eye Exposure: If slurry or chemicals splash into the eyes, flush immediately with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes, holding eyelids open. Seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed skin with soap and water. If irritation develops or chemical burns occur, seek medical attention.
Inhalation: If chemical fumes or dust are inhaled, move to fresh air. If symptoms persist (coughing, difficulty breathing), seek medical attention.

3. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flammability: Rubber and polymer diaphragms are combustible. Use extinguishing media appropriate for rubber/plastic fires.
Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, foam, dry chemical powder, or carbon dioxide (CO₂).
Fire Response: In the event of a fire, evacuate the area and call emergency services. Use appropriate extinguishers.
