PRIMARY USES

1. Enhancing Filter Cake Dewatering in Membrane Filter Presses

Primary Use: A flexible, impermeable rubber component used in Diemme membrane filter plates to perform a secondary “squeezing” step for enhanced dewatering. Essential for mining, mineral processing, chemical, and industrial wastewater applications where achieving maximum cake dryness is critical.

How it helps: For process engineers and plant operators, the rubber diaphragm enables the filter press to achieve significantly lower cake moisture levels than standard recessed chamber plates alone. When the application requires washing stages with solvents or drying stages with compressed air, special plates with variable-volume chambers that use these diaphragms are necessary. The diaphragm transforms the force of pressing air or water into mechanical pressing, compressing the filter cake to reduce residual moisture to below 10%. 1. Chemical and Corrosive Environments: Diaphragms are available in a wide range of elastomers to suit different slurry conditions and chemical compositions. Special formulations are available for demanding applications requiring resistance to aggressive chemicals and high temperatures .
